The Official Type R Thread

Wow been a while since i was here...

I'm getting a Type R 12" D2...am running a US Amps 1600.2 on it

Can someone recommend a good ported box i can use ?...wrt to size and port dimensions ?

Right now i have a 2.35 cuft ported at about 33hz...i'm thinking it's gonna be too big for it ?

What ya'll suggest ?

I just bought a 1522D type r...I have 2 txa1000d's taht are 1000 x 1ohm but if I strap them, it'll be 2000 x 2ohm. Would that be too much? or should i just run one of my amps to the 15? I also have a dei 1100d...Which would be preferred for the 1 15?

Hey man I just bought a 1522D also. For the amp im gonna be using the Cadence ZRS-8, 1500 Watts RMS @ 1 ohm.

So i hooked up my 1522D, and I'm just curious if those banana plugs are gonna fall out? they dont seem like they will stay in the holes and lock very well...

Alright guys i need some advice, i want to get a little SQ out of my R. Currently i have it in 2.6^3 @ 36hz, now if i do something around 2^3 @ 32hz would that be better? I also want it to hit the lows more, so another reason to make a new box tuned lower.

2 cubes @ 34 is low enough for sq

I'm looking into Type R's, 3 of them to be exact, but I already own 2 JL Audio 12w3's Dual 4-ohm. In you guys honest opinion, would it be better to just add another JL Audio w3, putting me at 900w RMS....instead of buying 3 new subs?

I have never heard the 12w3 but i am presuming the type-r's would have a higher spl in a ported box. I have 2 type-r's in a sealed box with 350W to each sub. It is not terribly loud unless i really crank it but they do sound really good. I supose it come down to how much $$$ you want to spend.

Looks like I called this one correctly and OP hasn't been back to post any glowing reviews either.

The Type R subs are a really great sub. Deff ask about a DMM reading or take a DMM and check them. Dust Caps can be replaced as stated and...
