Tapping into Factory Wiring

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the Infinity amp in the back.

I'm upgrading everything but the head unit this weekend, taking out the amp and adding a new one for the door and dash speakers.

Since I'm not getting a replacement head unit until I fabricate a double din dash, can I tap into the high level (?) wires coming out of the head unit, feeding the factory infinity amp? In other words, can I run my amp's speaker level input signal off of the front speaker wires going from head unit ---> factory infinity amp, and then remove the infinity?

Or should I buy an LOC? Trying to avoid this, it'll only be a few weeks until I get a new one.

the signal coming out of the hu into the amp is low level. from amp to speakers is high level. in my car, i just tapped into the low level wires coming out of the hu with rca terminals, disconnected the harness to the amp, works fine.
