My Rockford Type RF X7 amp started acting up yesterday.. My bass got weak and cut out for a second or two and I noticed my battery light come on in my vehicle like it had very low voltage. Didn't know what the hell happened.

This morning my bass cut off and I saw the subs moving a good bit, kind of like they were playing a 10hz test tone and my battery light came back on. Soon after my bass cut out altogether. Once I parked, I saw the protect light was on on my amp.

Well after class the amp was working fine again..On my way home, once again, it did the same thing.

No freaking clue whats going on, have had the amp for only about 6 1/2 months..Thought Rockford made a better product..

Any clues?

Any clues?

have you checked the voltage that your alternator is actually putting out? Try voltage measurements with and without the amp connected and see if there is an abnormal load.

Im guessing either your alternator went poo, your wiring is disconnecting somewhere, or the amp's power supply has failed.

I feel for ya dude , my X7 just went out on me also , took off the cover , nothing looks burnt .

Hell I wasnt even bumpin when mine went , it just made this big BOOMP , and the subs ****** in and it went into protection .

I might have it fixed but IDK , gone too KICKER now after runnin RF for 15 years and couldnt be happier .

The surprise wasn’t that they didn’t offer one…it’s how much engineering went into making it easily replaceable, and then not offering one. Maybe...

Thanks ya. Just pulled the trigger on the 1500BDCP because of the constant power that RF developed to help with the ohm rise.

I would pull it and bench test it with a 12v battery. Ive had Bulbs burn out in the past and the amplifier works excellent. They will burn out at...
