Ever consider the CDT EF-8s? I've never heard them, but woofersetc has them for about $60 apiece. Look to be single 4 ohm VCs, so you'd be at about 800w RMS at 1 or 4 ohms.

ok, so 32 to 22 was an exaggeration...but i did notice a decrease in mileage

I have the assasin 8s and I love them. Granted I have never heard any other 8s but these are perfect for me. Great sq and get suprisingly loud. Have them off around 750 watts for the pair.
