kicker l7's

my original plan was to get a BTL but i dont want to have to upgrade my electrical system (being in highschool and not having much money) so i have decided to go for something around 1600 watts or less (if possible). I have been looking at kicker l7's but dont know whether 2 12"s or 1 15". which will be louder and have more bass. I am looking for mainly SPL and plan on porting around 35hz. are there any other subs that need around 1600 watts or so with what iam looking for?. my budget is around $450 or so for subs. cheaper the better

it depends on how much room you have. to get obnoxiously loud, you'd need a HUGE ported box for a single 15 and almost 2kw to really get it moving.

the 12's can take 1200 or so each but, would probly require the same size box as a single 15 would. been a while since i messed with L7's.

but a single 15 would need like 4-5 cubes iirc and the 12's need like 3-3.5 per. (for efficiency)

I disagree.. I only have 900 watts going to mine and it can get to moving really nice and is obnoxiously loud to almost everyone but me.. And my box is just 4.5ft^3..

Personally, id go with 2 12"s in about a 6 ft^3 box tuned to 33hz and try to give each one of them at leasy 750 watts..

i have enough room for both of those and havent got the amp yet but probably around 2000 watts or less. i dont want to upgrade my alt, so i will have 90 amp alt, big 3, and 2 batteries (not sure which ones yet) would i be able to do 2,000 watts or so without bad volt drops? and what would be louder and better bass between the 12"s or 15"

2 12"s are DEF louder than 1 15" ...

you want STUPID loud then get yourself 2 12"s , 6 cubes @ 38 hz... depending on the car and whatnot it would be painfully loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

it looks like iam going to get 2 12" and put them in a 6 cu. box around 35hz. Does anyone have recomendations on amps? i think iam going to get a Hifonics BXi1606D or should i get a bigger amp? and iam going to build the box so if anyone knows where or who i could get help or plans from.. thanks so far
