Welcome to Thunderdome
Alright guys, I got this Kicker KX800.2 installed in my car and its running a single 12" Alpine type X. The sub is wired in parallel to the amp in order to achieve 2 Ohms. It sounds good until i turn it up, when the amp goes into protection mode. It cuts out completely until I turn it down to a decent level. Then it turns on again. Im running 4 ga. power to the amp through a 140 amp circuit breaker. Any ideas what is causing this amp to go into protection mode? When it cuts out, none of the fuses pop and the circuit breaker doesn't open or anything. Please gimme some ideas to get this to stop.

Most stereo amplifiers are not stable when bridged to a 2 ohm load. Your amplifier is probably overheating and shutting down when you ask more power of it than it can safely deliver when bridged.

Simplest solution is to use an amp that is stable into 2 ohms. Your best bet is a mono subwoofer amp which are built to handle the lower impedance. It would probably be more efficient as well.

You could run the 800.2 in two channel mode and wire each channel to it's own voice coil but you have to be sure that each coil is receiving a matching signal to avoid distortion.

If it were me, I'd move the 800.2 to the front speakers and pick up another amp.

Then that explains why it cuts off at a lower volume when I have the two channels bridged into one. Right now I have it running off of one channel because I can turn it up louder before it cuts out.

Is this a blue or blue/white wire from the Kenwood? The ACC wire is red and although that should turn on the amp, it is not the prefered wiring...
