im not sure....i bought this sub awhile with the idea of buying a nice amp for it to put in my car, but i need some cash so i decided to sell it before i ever hooked it up...

Compared to an rl-i, it will get a little louder while losing a little sound quality. That certainly isn't to say it will sound bad; the 1008a series gets loud while retaining a fair amount of sound quality.

But if you're willing to go sacrafice a little output, the rl-i is a better sub if your leaning toward sound quality and are only looking at these two subs.
