You can bring it back. Need a nice charger than runs a de-sulfation cycle / charge. Call Dave the Techie @ Kinetik and talk to him about it, he will recommend a certain $120~ charger that will get this, and all your other batteries in shape.

/e usually in a 12v 1.x volts per cell = shot which is anywhere from 6.x-7.x so it could be bad but you can break down the crystallization and get some life out of it.

Good read here

Battery Sulfation Recovery

alright cool. until i can get ahold of one, is it a bad idea to try to charge it off the main battery?
Using an alternator on a dead/sulfated battery is a bad idea. It is not a battery charger its a maintainer. I would use a ctek 3300 or 7002 or if money is an issue a schumacher xc-6. XC-6's can be bought at wal mart for 30ish bucks but the 70ish dollar 3300 will more than likely do a better job. Only question is what stage the sulfation is in. If it is crystalized it is a lost cause. This is why it is important to keep lead acid batteries charged.

i got a g31 YT sitting on my back porch. been there 2 years (yellow is faded). checked it 2wks ago... 12.9v

at 7.5v i would toss it in the recycle pile. for what you'll drop to try and revive it, go buy a new battery w/ warranty.

i jumped it from my uncle's booster pack and now it rests at 12.2

i'm surprised it worked. i've been checkin lately and it hasn't dropped yet.

I have brought some kinetiks back from as low as 4 volts before. I would get a charger on it to see how far you can get it back. Fully charged should stay at about 12.85 volts then put it on a load tester. Set it to 50 or 60 amps and it should stay above 9 volts for 10 seconds. If it doesnt it may need to be discharged a tad bit then charged back up. With a Ctek you generally do not have to do more than 1 cycle to find out if the cell is good or bad.

It depends on the brand. My JL has 500k Ohms, old Fosgate has 80k Ohms, and old Orion has 80 Ohms. These are the ones I had on hand for testing.
