SSA DCON sounds like the perfect sub (high quality, works within your wattage, is in your budget, and is designed to run in small/medium sealed).

If you can find a good deal on one, a W3V3 would be nice. They're not worth retail, but I had a pair sealed that got plenty loud and sounded really good.

JL honestly has never impressed me and yes ive heard them in proper boxes. Been thinking about the dcon....but the FI alpha is looking pretty sweet, just waiting to hear back on box requirements
