Id have to 2nd the TC 3000, it is a SQL sub...and quite elegant when compaired to other subs mentioned in this thread. For snobbishly low bass, this is my clear suggestion.
This is the truth. I have the TC-3000 12" and this thing gets just as loud and low as my 15" Avalanche, all the while sounding 100x cleaner. And we all know the Avalanche is a low end beast.

I have it in a 1 cu.ft. sealed box so I can't even imagine how loud and low it would get in the 3 cu.ft. box that TC recommends for a ported enclosure. I'm sure it would be rediculous.

12's can't get low

when I had 8's.. they really couldn't get low..

but 18's are slow and sloppy...

so maybe 15's are the best?

All about preference, gimme a good pair of 12"s and a big box any day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

TC drivers have low fs and high spl = what you want. Go for the new TC-5200 if you can wait and want to spend big dollars.

i dont say bugger neither...............i pick and flick them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

a ported enclosure can have a much lower f3 than a sealed enclosure with the same volume...
A ported enclosure will have a much steeper rolloff below tuning than the natural rolloff of a sealed box. Even tuning around 25Hz will lead to a sharper decrease in the infrasonic range than a sealed enclosure will...

the ol' 3hp/mt hybrid i had my hands on for alittle while was capable of somethign like 140.7 @ 29Hz on the TL, something pretty silly, had to tune the box to like 25Hz though.....never had a chance touse in it that application but in 4 cubs @ 28Hz it did hit the higher notes way harder than the xxx did, but the xxx was way more musical and noticably slightly better SQ ...all box dependant... probly would have stuck with that if i didnt go to an 18.....

Additinally, no need to reference "max" anything as those specs are useless. Most of know how to look at specs for a given speaker, amp, HU, etc...

That’s the little single 6.5 inch enclosure. The Savard did just as well as the RDS. These subs do well in ported or 6th orders but not as well...
