It also depends on how much power you are running. If you are running sub 1000W, realistically you won't need 36sq ft. Cover the trunk, then soundproof it for the best results. Use the rest for the doors etc. Soundproof the rest too.

I would recommend focusing on getting some better midbass with a decent interior amp and preferably some 6.5 components up front. Seal/deaden/soundproof the doors. Just my .02c

Gotcha. Honestly, i'd get someone to do it on the cheap for you. There may also be some local uncertified shops around your area that'll do it for half the cost of a regular shop, while still having a little more peace of mind that a backyard mechanic. If you don't feel comfortable doing it...

People have said the SLS are good for free air. Any experience with them? XLS for sealed pods. I didn't see any XLS smaller than 10 though, and they seemed like dedicated subwoofers, not good for midbass but I dont know for sure. Thanks for the input here to buy
