Ok, I have a kenwood HU, model KDC-X689, and an Alpine amp, model MRD-M300. When I turn the subs on through the HU, they will play with the tuner but not with a cd/mp3 disk. I have tried toggling the subs on and off while the disk is playing but still nothing. What would be the cause of this...

I guess what my two questions are is One, will there be any negative effect to sound quality between a straight port verses a port that zigzags back and forth, or even a L-port And two, will I damage the subs by tuning lower than factory recommendations
