On those 12" $275 shipped subs, what would you recommend in terms of power, box size and tuning? Is this the right range? .... 2-3 cubes, 28-33hz, 8-1200w?

Sounds like you may just need some good EQ work to suite your ear.

Yep any decent 2 channel that will bridge to 700-900w @ 4 ohms. or a 1000w @ 1 ohm mono amp.

I hear good things about Boston g5 10's. Although you may be able to go spg555's in that space, a little too pricey though. I'm having a hard time finding the g5 10's but I could swear they were close to $150. I know they are basically discontinued.

Assuming it's an Srx2 on conservative gain, I'm going to say a 125.2 may indeed solve your issue. You may may want to follow the gain tutorial and set your gain with a meter first. Then if things get sloppy/harsh at high volume, cease and desist with the volume, get the 125.2 .

Of those choices, I'd go Hertz based on reviews. Assuming your amping them with 75-100w rms. And you are deadening and somewhat sealing up your doors, should sound nice.

That's a nice amp, assuming it works, I wouldn't sell it for less than $275-300. I see vii viii Zeus amps selling for $350, not sure this would be worth more.
