Well; First off, if you don't use the sub (i.e. play it at a reasonably loud level), then you are absolutely wasting your time. Barely using the sub (keeping the volume down) isn't going to do anything to help "loosen" it. Second, the sub will loosen up just fine during normal operation. Just use it like you planned on using it. Unless you are pushing the sub to it's absolute extreme (which, sorry, but you won't do that with music at typical listening levels), then you have nothing to worry about. Just play the sub now how you would play the sub a year from now. Use layer upon layer of sound deadening 2-3 layers on every surface is what I'd aim for if I were you. Raammat - http://www.raamaudio.com/products.htm (what I use) Secondskin - http://www.secondskinaudio.com/secondskin.html Brown Bread Seem to be the most used Absolutely. You will do nothing but benefit from sound deadening. Put it everywhere; trunk (every wall/floor/trunk lid/rear deck if it's rattling), floor of the car, doors, as much of the cabin's side of the firewall as possible, A-pillars (help kill wind noise), roof. Don't have to do it all at one time mind you But as your stereo progresses, that should be your ultimate goal. Doors and floors will also benefit from a layer or two of acoustical foam.
