All throughout these years, I've relied on shops to install my car audio...sure I've installed speakers and such, but the wiring, I left to the professionals. Now, I have the urge to tackle this myself. My car audio in my current car is as follows: alpine head unit with CDE-9874 w/ two sets of preamp outputs (switchable to subwoofer mode with bass level control) alpine mrv-f540 4 channel amp focal 6.5" components (I forget which model, I paid around 700 for them 4 years ago) JL 10w7 in custom sealed box w/ JL 500/1 amp. Stock rear speakers Ok for the real question. I plan on replacing my focals with Phoenix Gold RSD's. I didnt' like the Focals cause they were way too bright and I couldn't hear the mids or midbass. I think one side is torn also... The car audio shop didn't do well of an install as I had to fix the wiring to the subs to make my subs sound ok. So...I'm gonna install the RSD's on both front and rear and drive it with my alpine amp. Is there a setting I should be aware of? Since the components come with a passive cross over, should I be setting any LP/HP, crossover frequency, buttons on my alpine or turn those off and let the passive crossover do its work? I'm so new with amps that all these settings confuse me, please help! I know I'll have more questions on setting the head unit correctly with all those frequency settings, but I'd like to start off there for now. Thanks in advance!
