Ive had this issue for a while... i have a deh-p590ib deck and i accidentally touched the power cable on a old amp a while ago... fried the amp. Anyways before on both amps i had the gain set at about 1/3 for it to do the rated power on a DMM. Anyways after that it wasnt doing close to the power (after i replaced my amp with the same one... kept the other amp) on either amps. I turned hte gain all the way up and it was still a little below the rated power. I had the equalizer on flat and bass boost off. When id turn bass boost half way up i could have the gain set at 1/3 and do the rated power but i didnt want to leave bass boost on. Anyways on my deck i ended up setting my ipod to "+4" and that put hte gains 1/2 - 2/3 all the way up with bass boost off. So i know its my deck thats putting out a weak signal... i guess too much current went through the remote turn on or rca's when i fried my amp... dont think im doing any damage to my amp/subs from distortion do you... the gains were set with a dmm but they are still turned up very high compared to the way they were before. I dont hear any distortion. Its been like this for a half year, but i usually dont listen to it all the way up, and hell a couple years back it took 2.5 months to blow my zx300.1 and cvr 10 with the bass boost and gain all the way up. Im getting ready to get some new equiptment so i want to make sure im not risking damaging anything.
