[QUOTE="saywhat?, post: 742726, member: 554367"] rap has always superseded hip hop. eazy e,. doc dre, all them back in the day were rap. noone old skool i like.....other than biggy/pac/grand masta flash. and biggy/pac arent even "old skool" they were WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY ahead of their time. if u listen to Indie Rap, its more than getting drunk and drivin caddies, its about life and love, and they write whole songs talkin about a subject in different context than that of how it happened. take "Atpmosphere-bird songs sing whatever" for example. listen to the lyrics, youll here him talkin bout a "bird" but hes speakin about a girl. now for something that is actually listening worthy, not just hearing worthy. immortal technique "you may never know" this is prolly my favorite song out right now. yes its all on love and tragedy and all, but it puts it in the eyes of how it happened, it defines the feelings, then it goes to tell a story. somewhat like dance with the devils. if u want REAL hip-hop listen to common, mos def, talib kweli, all of blackstar honestly, and there are others, i believe saul williams is one personally. i love his work. i love my indie rap scene becuz of the style and lyrics. its not something u can bump to down the street and get crazy but hey......thats not me. i also like the shit that makes u think. another view i like is the brutal view. "dead body disposal"-necro "dance with thed evils"-imm. tech. all of necro is this view pretty much. i havent heard a radio song in 4 months, didnt even know 50 cent had a new album till today.
