Ya I don't think it will ever go away. I have an 07 accord coupe and the stock system is decent, but when listening to a cd last night while high so my ear was really in tune lol, it wasn't even close to my low budget old system in my subaru. The mid-bass was so lacking it was ridiculous. Its physics. Cars tend to produce more midbass frequencies so those cancel the easiest. Now with good sound dampening I could get the mids popping pretty good on even the stock system, but no manufacturer would go to the lengths I intend for sound dampening no matter what. Now my friend just got a new subaru crosstrek and the system is decent. Pretty good bass response but again no where near what even a low powered sub could do. The thing I did like is they included HD radio in the factory stereo. See thats where I think we need to take advantage of technology. If radio stations are broadcasting in HD radio, then why not let the people hear it.
