Who is an installer?

Was just wondering because i am thinking about getting into the trade and i was wanting to know what kind of pay is averaged in this line of work. I can already run my own install and build my own boxes, however i was going to still go to IIT in Orlando to touch on everything and to get MECP certified. It is just that i love doing this kind of work. So can someone tell me about how much i would make?

the installers at bestbuy made like $15, and they were certified. there was one old guy that made about $23 or so?

All the shops I have worked for have done commission. I have made anywhere from 40-52% of what I install. And got 25% of gross profit on the sales side. You can make really good money this way, if you are at a good shop, with good salesmen, and you make a name for yourself, with your customers. Repeat customers are awsome for custom work.

depends on how good you are... definately have to get creative with some fiberglass if you want to make money. and specialized shops should pay better than best buy or circuit city.

Yes i know it depends on how good you are. As i said i already know the basics, enough to run a number of installs and build a good box and i am going to go to IIT to touch up on all the customizing(fiberglass etc.)

I was....didn't realize how much I hated it and how stressful it was until I left.

I did it for over 2 years and after I while I just hated doing it.

I made ~$500/wk+bonus, which was around ~$125-150 extra a week.

i be an installer and i makes 40% commision on labor and 20% on sales

I install via contract labor at a shop back home.

I get called when the guys that work there get over there head in an install.
