Message: <blockquote data-quote="Hintzyboy" data-source="post: 4152480" data-attributes="member: 566521"><p>You're welcome to.  I may be slightly off, but I've learned a lot of this stuff recently (and the stuff I already knew, I learned in more detail).  American slavery was VASTLY different from European slavery.  I know for sure Africans held their own slaves.  They were treated much better than American slaves, and slightly better than those owned by Europeans.  African slaves were more like unpaid butlers and maids than anything else.  They were almost part of the family.  While this level of sentiment was absent from European slavery, the practice was nowhere near as brutal in Europe as in America.</p></blockquote><p></p>
