Now the CD5405 (the entry level $179.00 model) does not have a dedicated sub preout, no biggie. However, bump up one model to the CD5415 and you gain a dedicated sub preout with level control, MP3 and sirius satellite radio. It is not a huge jump in price. All of the CD5 series of cd player use the exact same preamp, amp, tuner and laser transport, thus there is no difference in performance amongst them. The difference is bells and whistles that the user may or may not choose to ring or blow. Personally I need sub out and a drop down face, so the CD5425 or CD5435 would be the two for me to look at.The CD5435 will thoroughly trounce the Alpine. Maybe the US does not have many of the cd players left because we Canadians are hogging them all. HAHA</blockquote>
