Being officially an "old fart" now, I guess (I started installing car audio back in 1984, and did it as a job until 1994, when I went into computers and later into home speaker design)... I was just contemplating how much stuff I still have, that STILL WORKS right. In fact, I'm about to put in a system into my daily driver (94 Protege), that's gonna have stuff like: Proton 222 amp (from 1986) (and hopefully a SECOND Proton 222 amp, if I can find one) EPI 8" woofers, from 1978 (!) (mounted into custom door pods) Either an Alphasonik EX3 crossover (I bought it NEW back in 1984!) or an ADS 642i crossover (from about 1987). HiFonics Cleo parametric EQ (1989). All this stuff WORKS GREAT. The only casualty I've had was my old beloved Alpine 7905 CD player (which I bought on employee comp back in 1990)... CD mech finally bit the big one. Got a new Alpine, to replace it. Nice thing, is that the new one has about 4 times the pre-out voltage (2v instead of .5v). Should make that old stuff sound even better (less noise)!! So... anyone got any OLDER stuff than this in daily use? If anyone trumps me too bad, I'll have to dig out my old Fosgate 220 and 250 amps (1977), or my Zapco 151A (1977)... Regards, Gordon.
