Obviously new and I so understand how forums work so if this is answered in a a recent thread then please link me to it and I will be happy to read! Or if you're a veteran...same. So, thanx in advance. (single dad with 4 kiddos so read/search time is limited) So, yesterday I was cruising down the road with my one month old Hifonics bxi608 and two mtx 5500 svc subs at a no where near cranked level. Next thing i know, no sound and that wonderful smell... I have had these subs in this car for a while and have 8aug. wire supplying power and ground. The subs are not scratchy when the cone is pressed on and the impedance measures 3.6 ohms from the terminals on the box for both speakers. My budget isn't that large and I can't really afford to go through amps figuring out what went wrong...assuming the amp wasn't a lemon of course. I don't completely understand how to tune my amp and I adjust listening levels to be balanced in the car and not just max bass for the sake of competition. I would like some help on troubleshooting, replacement amp recommendations (if this one isn't replaced on warranty), proper set up, and I was also told to use the audiocontrol Overdrive line driver for the rca's. Is that something I should/need to do with a cheap sony head unit? thanx in advance!
