From there I decided I needed a new social atmosphere and booked it up to the University of California at Santa Cruz for the following two years. There, I continued studying psychology for a short while and moved onto my real interest, business. Unfortunately, their business program was not primarily entrepreneurial and essentially was best for lining you up in a big firm where you can work your life away as an accountant and get very rich as you climb up the corporate ladder... definitely not for me. Money is necessary, but it's not what makes your life great - YOU are!</p><p></p><p>Uh-oh.. looks like I'm startin' to ramble on, let me try to wrap this up <img src="http://www.soundsplinter.com/images/graemlins/wink2.gif" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" />.</p><p></p><p>Those three years of college treated me well, but I ultimately decided to go on hiatus and haven't gone back since, save to take a few classes purely out of interest here and there. Ever since running my own web host in the mid 1990s for a few years, I got the taste of self-employment and I loved it. That business ultimately failed due to rising overhead and rapidly declining website prices throughout that decade... but I knew that I wanted to call my own shots from then on.</p><p></p><p>I also cleaned grease traps and handed out food at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, for about 5 years off and on. Worked my way up to the point where the boss let me manage the stands at times and made some good money for a high-schooler ($10-15 / hr + all the free food you could eat). I liked the manual aspects of the job, and I enjoyed meeting tons of interesting peeps.. but when it comes down to it, I am a introspective and meticulous person, and I wanted something to really call my own and run as I felt fit.</p><p></p><p>So last year I started helpin' TC Sounds out with their back-inventory stock and they wanted me to design some websites for them. The projects we began dwindled, and one of the sites they initially had me make them (<a href="http://www.soundsplinter.com" target="_blank">soundsplinter</a>), was given to me to run as my own. Here I am now, well less than a year from throwing some serious effort into this project and having a great time doing it. I can work at 4pm or 4am, I get to call the shots, and I get honest feedback from the people I transact with.</p><p></p><p>I've also been good at saving a large portion of my money which has been continually invested for about a decade now. I will always keep putting money into investments (primarily real estate related), since it is almost like getting paid to not to work! I tapped these investments for my initial capital contribution to SoundSplinter, which has run me about $15,000 in start up costs. I have no idea how much SoundSplinter will make me, but it's more of a hobby for me than something I'll be scraping to get rich off of. I just want to run my own business and ensure that my customers get personal service that they may not be used to in so many of today's huge companies <img src="http://www.soundsplinter.com/images/graemlins/grin2.gif" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></p><p></p><p>Well chit, looks like I did go ramblin' on there for quite a bit. Suppose that's what happens when you tip back a few brews in the eve' hours <img src="http://www.soundsplinter.com/images/graemlins/beer.gif" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /><img src="http://www.soundsplinter.com/images/graemlins/cool2.gif" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></p><p></p><p>In addition to those heaps of life experience I just laid out, I've also spent much of my spare time volunteering to assist in the administration and maintenance of one of the largest psychedelic communities on the internet today, <a href="http://www.shroomery.org" target="_blank">the Shroomery</a>. While I am by no means an obscene drug user, I do enjoy the ocassional toke of Mary Jane and my limited experience with Psilocybe Cubensis mushrooms has opened my eyes to a new perspective on life that has helped me to live my life the way I want to, and not how society or anyone else would have me.</p><p></p><p>I truly believe that accurate and readily available information could promote the responsible and beneficial use of so many substances (both legal and otherwise), and ultimately make for a more tolerant and accepting world climate. Obviously it won't happen in the blink of an eye, but using fear and misinformation as a tactic for prohibition just doesn't make sense. I could go on and on.. but this isn't the Shroomery, this is CarAudio! <img src="http://www.soundsplinter.com/images/graemlins/crazy2.gif" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></p><p></p><p>Just figured I'd express my sentiments on this, since it seems many of you are interested in pursuing careers in law enforcement, and I hope you will take the time to view things from alternate perspectives in efforts to improve your own objectivity. I also hope that many of you will be able to speak out against some very strange and at times detrimental legal policies we have in effect today in the United States.
