The only problem with Canadian health care is wait times. The health care here is paid for by the gov't through taxes. Everyone pays their taxes, everyone gets health care. If I need be referred to a specialist, it is free. I may have to wait in line, but it is what it is. No expense out of my pocket, except what gets taken out in my daily taxes. It is no different than waiting in line at a restaurant. How much money in my bank does not dictate where I am in the line. I have access to the same doctors that the millionaire does. If I have the money and I don't want to wait to see a specialist, I have the option of going elsewhere where I can pay to be first in line. There is no difference to me as a person in paying for health care through my taxes, or buying health insurance. The difference is though, that the money goes into the gov't instead of a corporation that is a for profit organization. Therefore, if people do not need to go to the doctor, the surplus monies can be used for other infrastructure needs or allotted to other public services. When the money goes to an insurance company, all it does is line the pockets of shareholders.
