[QUOTE="VWBobby, post: 7126514, member: 624844"] I want to like you guys, but there are a lot of socialist and communist views on this topic. Wealthy people shouldn't be the only people allowed access to health care by the top professionals. Poor people are not entitled to free/reduced cost health care by top paid specialists/experts. If the system is going to work, it needs to be a dual system like what was outlined above. Private insurance companies will compete for lower costs or reduced billing if regulations prevent hiked bill rates (higher bills for those with insurance compared to those without, for the same operations/surgeries). Right now, the BILLING system is not regulated so just about any hospital or doctor can charge whatever they want to the insurance company. Its up to the company or the patient to pay the bill in the long run. If someone comes in crying a sob story about not having money, they get a reduced rate in some cases. The goverment system would be more like a welfare healthcare system. Not the top doctors, not the top pay rates, but healthcare and "healthy" people none the less. They should be required to repay whatever they borrow against the welfare system once they get back on their feet. If they don't repay, then that will fall right back into a socialist or communist view on healthcare since the taxes are providing the healthcare that wasn't paid for by the welfare recipient.
