maybe from David Heath? Renato Sobral i guess was rather brutal with him and recieved a 25k fine for choking him well after the tap out (bloodied him up bad too.) UFC 74 news: Choke may cost Sobral $25,000 Aug 25, 2007 | 7:34PM | report this UFC official Marc Ratner said $25,000 of Renato “Babalu” Sobral’s fight purse is being withheld because of his actions during a second-round victory over David Heath earlier in the show. Sobral admitted in a post-fight interview that he held a bloodied Heath in a chokehold several seconds after Heath had submitted because of a grudge between the two light-heavyweights. Heath left the ring under his own power after the bout, which was held on the non-televised portion of UFC 74. UFC 74: Sobral bloodies, submits Heath Aug 25, 2007 | 6:55PM | report this * Renato “Babalu” Sobral defeated David Heath via submission at 3:30 of the second round. UFC referee Steve Mazzagatti clearly let this fight last several minutes too long. Heath was a bloody mess from a vicious ground-and-pound attack in the second round long before he got choked out. Afterward, Sobral said he rendered Heath unconscious even though Heath had already tapped out because of a previous beef between the two. That turned a pro-Sobral crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center against him, with one fan even throwing back a baseball cap that “Babalu” had thrown into the audience. This is the kind of fight that the anti-MMA contingent can point to when voicing the sport is too violent for sanctioning by athletic commissions. Josh Barnett, one of the top free-agent MMA fighters still on the market, was in Sobral’s corner Heard Brock Lesner was there too...looking to get into the ufc
