Well I finally put my type r in today. It's in a 02 accord sedan (trunk) in a 2.2ft^3 box at 32 hz. Frankly, I think I must have been expecting to much. I was under the impression it would be louder than my friend's fi Q off of 600 watts for some reason, but rather it's much quieter. Mine is also off 600 watts @4 ohms. All the talk back in the day about how good the spl is on the type r, maybe overrated? Or maybe I just have it set up wrong (I sure hope so). It's not that much queiter, but I'd say it moves quite a bit less air. I do get some pretty good trunk rattle/flex. I would've liked to give it more power and a bigger box, yes, but even at 600watts I think I was expecting more. The install on the q is almost the same, done by me, in a 2.5 cube box at 32. It's in a camry, so the vehicle is similar. I DID not set the gains correctly, though. I couldnt' figure it out. I know that cadence amps aren't testable by DMM unless you have a dummy load (forgot the reasoning for this...) so I tried to do it by ear. Had a 50hz test tone at both 0 and -3db, and I couldnt' get the sub to clip even at max gain setting . Have no idea what I did to get this. Bass EQ on the amp is maxxed out, as is the bass on the HU. Or maybe, I don't know what clipping sounds like? I was under the assumption it would be like the gains on the speakers where it changes tone. Anyways, just thought I'd share my rant. If anybody can help me with my gain problem, it would be appreciated as well. I just guesstimated and set it about 3/4 of the way since my hu has a pretty low rca voltage (2.2v).
