I have an 1989 S-10 Blazer and I need to get rid of the tape player that came with it. I have a crappy JVC KD-S670 from another car that I'm not using, and I plan to throw it in the Blazer. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I'm doing. I have absolutely no experience with car audio at all. The stock setup has 3 separate wiring harnesses (I think that's what they are, again I really know nothing about this kind of thing) that connect to the back of the approximately 80-pound, microwave sized tape player. Can I just chop off the harnesses, strip the wires, and splice them to a GM wiring harness? The vehicle has all the stock speakers and no aftermarket equipment installed. Also, I realize that the head unit will be much smaller than the massive hole left by the tape player. I'm not concerned with looks, just so I can listen to my crappy music while I'm driving. Another thing to note is that the head unit has 16 pins in the back, but the stock wiring provides a mere 11 wires. I cannot stress enough that I'm basically flying blind here, so if my question makes no sense, or I'm oversimplifying, I'll gladly attempt to elaborate or provide pictures.
