My question is " due to the archetecture of a hard drives ability to ready from the disk sectors " I would think that hitting the smallest bump while the HD is reading from the drive would cause mis-alignment of the needle and cause it to hit that disk at 7200RPMs respectively havingHD replacements all the time. How has the hard drive taking your driving oscillations ? If you say you havent had much problems then I might as well save the time of building a unix kernel , and simply run a windows OS on a HD like normal ,but this was my main concearn.
