I bet that's a comfortable ridin' sonofagun, eh? Pontiac got mentioned and it made me think of a buddy of mine who I've known since we were 5 years old. Anyone ever heard of Indian Guides? (The YMCA's version of Cub Scouts, I suppose, only you're divided up into various Indian tribes rather than scout troops) At any rate - this guy and I met in Indian Guides when we were little. Well, in November of 1968 said friend's father made a new car purchase at the Pontiac dealer for the princely sum of $2,716 and change. In the summer of 1991 when my buddy turned 18 he was given this vehicle as a graduation gift. As all it did was pass from father to son it is still classified (for car show purposes) as a one owner vehicle. The car in question? (and yes, it is a stunning piece of automotive beauty, in my humble opinion) A 1969 Pontiac GTO, numbers matching 389 v8 with the Tri-Power setup (Pontiac's nomenclature for a three 2bbl carb setup) with an automatic, still has the tube-type AM radio in the dash and less than 80,000 miles on the clock. Not a bad ride for free just for graduating high school, eh? Yes, my friend (his name is Robert) still has the car and has refused offers of 50K to sell it.
