Following a 119 loss season, they signed Ivan Rodriguez to a big contract. The next season after losing 90 games they signed Magglio to a huge contract. The next season after losing 92 games they signed Kenny Rogers. Also at the trade deadline they kept their veterans and instead of trading for prospects, they traded for Polanco at the deadline. Then after the Tigers made it to the World Series, they go out and get Sheffield and sign him to an extension. Then following their pennant, they win 88 games but weren't satisfied and got Renteria. Magglio, Guillen, Polanco, Inge, Renteria are creeping into their 30's. Pudge and Sheffield are into their late 30's. The window of oppurtunity to win is now. The Tigers have shown in the past they are willing to spend. They have an owner who will pay to win. The Tigers will increase their payroll to win. The Renteria trade shows they are not willing to just finish above 500 and in 2nd place.</p></blockquote><p></p>
