Hey guys, Not sure if I mentioned on this site, but I traded my 03 Civic Si, complete with FOCAL amps, 3 eD 13Ov.2 subs and a Rockford Fosgate RFX source unit. Anyway, it was a sweet system, til I got "sledgehammered" out to trade the car in. So I wanted to put a single 12 in the new car, a 07 Civic Si sedan to give it some low end grunt. the stock 8" sub sucks! well, at least compared to 1200 watts and 3 12's! I talked to audiocontrol and realized I had balanced line inputs on my EQL that I could use to 'add the sub' to my stock system. So I did. I just hooked up....or rather jury rigged up...the FOCAL 800.1 mono sub amp, the EQL seeing signal "IN" from the sub speaker wires in the rear deck, and a single 12" eD Ov sub in a 1.0 cu ft enclosure. Well, I have some bass now, but nothing extreme like I thought. It's running @ 1 ohm, so at least 800 watts is going into the sub, but it seems like 100 watts. And they I had to mess with the input gain and output gain on the EQL because the sub kept "waffling", then it would go quiet, the start playing again til it would start to "waffle". I looked at the sub as it did this, and it was moving up and down like crazy! sounded horrid! So I turned down the ouput gains on the EQL and got it to stop, but I really have no appreciable bass...or nothing worth permanentely mounting the system worth. I've never done this type of setup before...so not sure if it's the install, or just the way the signal gets to the amp. So...is it the line in that sucks? Which is what I assume. nothing beats RCA out of a source unit? any input would be appreciated...I miss my bass, and I'd rather NOT rip the dash apart as I love the new Civic Si radio and the way it looks... Thanks in advance.
