Hi guys. I'm seeking suggestions about what products to buy for my specific needs. What I'm looking for is sound quality. Not looking for audiophile level and no preference for SPL/SQ direction, just something that sounds REALLY GOOD. Last time I've been in the car audio game was 12 years ago I had a 10" Image Dynamics sub powered by a Rockford Fosgate Punch amp in a small hatchback. But I digress. Music that I listen to is mostly rock with some pop sprinkled in. Examples: Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Metallica, RHCP, Ace of Base, Michael Jackson, etc. Preliminary ideas include Infinity Kappas for the components (I've demoed them today and liked them). Sub wise I was thinking 2 to 3 10s. I've been thinking to completely omit the rear speakers, unless that's a bad idea? While the 4runner is my daily driver, I also off-road/explore/camp/sleep in the truck quite often. I cannot sacrifice a ton of room in the back! The sub enclosure cannot be huge (or can be removed easily for camping trips). Budget: I don't even know where to begin on sub/speaker amps nor the head unit. I've been out of the game too long! As far as head units go, do car audio receivers have good DACs? Are there dedicated DACs for car audio available? To summarize, what I'm looking for is a good sound quality system for mostly rock music. The sub enclosure cannot be huge (or can easily be removed from the truck for overnight camping trips). You guys help me out with the number/size of subs! Thank you.
