my sub thumps when i turn the key on. i have the remotes hooked up to the exact same location for my hu and my amp. i think i need a delay? maybe? never had this problem till i had to relocate the remotes. and if that is what i need, can i get it at walmart?

i had this problem when the stereo was first installed just regrounded the amps and it was fine

I'm not understanding what you mean by the remotes for the HU and the amp are connected in the exact same location. There is no remote turn-on input for the head unit...only a remote turn-on output for amps/accessories and another for a power antenna.

Why is the remote on for the amp not activated by the remote output on the head unit? I'd start by wiring it that way and see if it eliminates the thump. Barring that try putting a relay inline on the remote activation input for the amp to provide a couple milliseconds of delay. Yes, you can get them at Wal-Mart. Look in the back where the automotive stuff is. Look on the aisle that has headlight bulbs, fog lights, and various automotive wiring accessories. (provided your Wal-Marts are arranged the way the ones here are) They should be somewhere close to the wiring kits for fog/driving light sets.

technically its not a remote for my HU. it is my acessory wire, but my truck has no factory acessory wire. so i had to run one.

he's trying to say he had the remote turn on for the amps connected to the HU rem power lead but he probably blew the lead and connected it to the ignition wire

well the remote for my amp was initailly connected to my ignition wire cause i originally ran a sub off the stock HU....but i didnt install that setup. then when i got my new sub i just used the same remote wire. when i went to buy a wiring harness for my truck the guy told me that the 04 chevys didnt have acessory wires and so i had to run one. they told me to tap into the ignition wire again. along down the line my winshield wipers started going haywire so i took it up to the chevy house they told me that technically they would have to charge me to fix it since i had spliced into the ignition wire and the guy showed me where to wire it up so that they could service me under warranty so i came home and wired it that way.
