I have an MTX Thunder 500D that I'm gonna use to power a Hertx HX 300D sub once I get it. The thing is this amp is kinda older and only has three adjustments: gain, eq, and freq. I'm guessing that the "eq" knob is for bass boost, and the "freq" knob is for a low pass filter. Now someone that owns the sub I'm gonna get said to make sure I set my subsonic filter to make sure I don't damage the sub. The box I'll be building will be tuned to about 36hz. Now since this amp doesn't have a SS filter, will it be necessary to buy an external crossover with a SS filter?
