Hey - I'm obviously new to the forum. :P As the screen name suggests, I'm into high-end audio from a sound quality standpoint - not too interested in SPL. I started reading CA&E in the early 90's and had a system installed in my first car before I even had a driver's license. An a/d/s 6-channel amp and x-over with Boston Pro components and a MTX bandpass box - not too shabby for a first system, eh? My enthusiasm led me to work in the industry for 8+ years, but I've now moved on to other things. I really should've competed with my last vehicle - a 1996 Nissan Maxima. Here's a pic of my front stage setup: Pictured you can see my custom kicks and a-pillar tweeter pods. I built a 4-way front stage consisting of a pair of Alpine SPX-F17T 3-ways (6.5" in stock door location, 5.25" and 1" in kickpannel) and another Alpine 1" in the a-pillars. The whole system was driven by JL Audio power, with 75w driving each a-pillar from >10KHz, 75w on the kickpannels covering ~300Hz - 10KHz, 150w to each door midbass covering ~70Hz to 300Hz (that's 600w RMS to the front stage!), and 75w to the 6.5" Alpines midbass drivers in the rear deck for fill. The bottom-end was handled by a pair of JL 8W7's in a vented box which I built - driven by a JL 1000/1. The Alpine H700 processor tied it all together beautifully, and Dolby PLII helped to create quite a lifelike soundstage. It didn't produce the most accurate placement I've ever heard before, but I will say that in all my years of listening it delivered the best tonal balance I have ever heard from a car audio system. Now that my wife and I have had a baby, my days of sacrificing functional space for the sake of audio fidelity are gone So the real reason I joined this forum is to let go of a few components from my system which I doubt I'll ever get around to using again in a future system. I've posted them for sale in the classified section of the forums. Since I'm a noob, I have no history or references on this forum, but I will do what I can to make anyone interested in making a transaction comfortable. Cheers!
