[QUOTE="ss3079, post: 517059, member: 542009"] Reaching "db levels" isn't a piece of cake. It's not as simple as getting some big woofers, some big amps, and a big box. They still spend endless hours tuning, over and over again trying to get an extra tenth. They do contain knowledge ... more than you apparently know. When you're stuck hitting 145.4db's, you're not going to increase anything until you spend thousands of dollars more trying to buy more equipment to make it louder. That's when the SPL guys will laugh in your face, take a few hours to tweak, tune, brace, strengthen, etc ... plus a whole bunch more little secrets that they've figured out ... and blow by you with a 146.1 ... and costing them next to nothing. College degree or not, yes, I agree that an SQ install takes a lot of patience and effort. Did I really need to spend all of that money to get a great SQ install? No. I could do it in less than half of that if I wanted to. SPL doesn't just require money. It requires everything an SQ install would require. The ability to tweak and tune plays a key role in both types of set ups. For every point about SQ, there's a point for SPL. What I'm saying is, if you said "Well in SQ you spend hours trying out different EQ positions and crossover points" ... I say "Well in SPL you have to spend hours trying to see where the woofers are the loudest in the specific vehicle". I'm an SQ guy and listen to whatever I want to listen to. If that means smashing your head into the ground because you think I'm "fruity" and listen to classical music, then so be it. This ...
