Hi: I have an old system that I would love some help with? 1987 f250 been sitting around 14, years but back on the road - the Sterio system is probably 25, years old. Everything works but I want to replace my speakers first and take it from there. Each door has two 6.4” woofers in the bottom, one 4” midrange in the upper door, and a 2” tweeter next to it. The crossover and, speakers are Boston. Each door set is powered by a separate Orion 240 rms amp, and there are 2 Bazooka tubes behind the seat powered by an Orion 44 rms amp. I have spoken to a few people including Crutchfield. I am ignorant about audio, and stumped about a few things: First the two 6.4” speakers in the bottom of my doors are wired in series(daisy chained) and I don’t see any component systems with my configuration. Crutchfield tried to sell me the Focal 3 component system for 1k but there midrange is a 3” and there tweeter is 1.5” Seems a downgrade losing one speaker, and reducing my midrange by 1” and reducing my tweeters by 1/2” each? Can I mismatch speakers: buy two Audiofrog 4” midrange, four JL 6.5” and two 2” tweeters for instance, and just hook them up like the old ones, or what should I do.I know I need to insulate my doors. I really appreciate help !
