To get high effeciency, as in 100db/1w/1m you need a very light amount of moving mass. Light mass means high fs so the driver rolls off sooner, also you need a very short coil, so low xmax as a result. If you want your fronts to be able to play down to 80hz at least, you'll want 5-8mm of xmax and on a 8inch mid your pretty much not going to get over 96db/1w/1m. However, you do get more powerhandling with a mid than you do a small compression driver that actually fits into a car. The mids I'm upgrading to from the xs mids are BMS NS515's. They are 96db/1w/1m with 5mm of xmax. That's basically the ID drivers, but at leaste 4db's more sensative, possibly 7, IDK how ID rates their mids. 1 watt at 4 ohms is 2 at 8.... Anyway the mids I have now can handle 200 watts continously. AES ratings on pro audio mids are no joke, that's actual power that won't break it on music. A single mid is 96db/1w/1m, even with a few decibels of power compression a single driver with 200 watts will gain another 20db's due to power increasing from 1 watt to 200. that's already 116db's, plus 6 more for the second driver. 122's at 1m, a car is usually less than 3 feet away so maybe

124ish? [QUOTE="T3mpest, post: 6830388, member: 560148"] not that will play midbass as well, no. To get high effeciency, as in 100db/1w/1m you need a very light amount of moving mass.
