I am the original owner of these subs. I had intended to use them in a high power build but, long story short, I can not complete the build I inteded. They sat on my spare bed boxed up until I met up with Chipmunk2k3. The shipping packages had no damage at all. Square corners and no punctures in the box. The subs were surrounded in the box with form fitting vacuum foam. The magnets do not have a boot and there are no chips in the magnets. There literally isn't a scratch on these subs, anywhere. My belief is that this driver was not assembled correctly. Nik, an intern at Sundown built these subs. This appears to be the only case where there is an issue with the subs he built. Here is the thread that Nik had posted which gives the details about the subs. Per my request, Nik used D2 copper coils. Based on the product description he used 8 layer coils. Jacob Fuller has built 18" Z v.2 with v.3 soft parts as well. I have called Nik numerous times attempting to get resolution to this issue. I have also PM'd him. Currently I have not been able to speak with him nor have I received a PM reply. This appears to be an assembly issue and Nik should cover this. I will be making Nik aware of this thread. Chipmunk2k3, my suggestion is to wait for Nik's response. If for any reason he does not respond we can attempt send this sub to Sundown and have it repaired. It is your sub if you choose to send it to SPLaudio so be it.
