I found my own answer. It seems that most people are able to fix the "4000 error" by simply going into control panel>add/remove programs>iTunes>change/uninstall and click on "repair" (NOT UNINSTALL). This reinstalls iTunes as the main cd burning program and overides any competing burning software, like nero for example. Don't worry you won't lose your music. If you're nervous about losing your music, copy it before you perform the repair. or Apple has ideas: iTunes for Windows XP: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302976) iTunes for Windows Vista: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2615) iTunes: Installation of some third-party software utilities may prevent disc burning (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306329) If you have trouble burning a CD or DVD (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.6/en/15326.html) Can't burn a CD in iTunes for Windows (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1436) iTunes for Windows XP: How to tell if you have a drive that can burn a CD (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93359) iTunes for Windows Vista: How to tell if you have a drive that can burn a CD (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305404) iTunes for Windows: Additional troubleshooting tips for burning issues (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1374) also try turning down the burning speed of the drive say its at 24x turn it to 16 or something
