I bought a "list of companies that give stuff away free or for close to nothing" and all it was was the websites of a bunch of companies (car audio included) and a crappy description of how to apply to beta test new products. I'm sure there are some honest people out there offering lists of wholesale vendors, but there are a lot of c0cksuckers. I was looking to do the same thing, and still am, so if you find one that actually gives you a good list, gimme a shout.
