I have a box now with a JL W1 10". I did the calculations and my cu. ft is .56. The box is a wedge that measures 14" T x16 W x 7" @ bottom and 4" @ top.It is built with 3/4" MDF.  I can go a little bigger but if I build it out of 3/4" MDF it still will not give me the cu. ft. I need for either the W1 or W3. Does the box need to be made out of 3/4" MDF? Can I build it out of 1/2" birch?  I have looked into getting the Pioneer TS-SW2541D slim fit, but I am afraid the performance will not be as good as the JL. Any and all opinions are needed.
