Scarey F'ed Up Installs!!!! May be a repost

Sad thing is that i litterally stood there and watched a friend do crap like that to his car... I wanted to help and show him how to actually install stuff... but he wouldn't let me, he wanted to do it his way... So here is what he did lol...

For the wire going from the battery to the amp, he just duct taped it to the side of the engine compartment (with no fuse anywhere of course) and ran it back to the fire wall. To get through the firewall, he took a nail and hammer and sat there for 15 minutes pounding a whole through the firewall peice by peice with the nail and hammer... then passed the wire through it, without a grommet or anything. Then he just ran the wire along the bottom of the car back to the amp, which was just sitting on the floor of his backseat. The remote wire and RCA's were done in a similar fassion, just ran along the floor to the amp.

It was by far the most incredulous thing i had ever seen in my life, and the guy wouldn't let me help him at all... i couldn't figure out whether i wanted to cry or die laughing.

wow, im sure glad i can do my own installs, some of those aren't just horribly ugly and retarded installs, they are dangerous too

i love the bucket sub enclosures though

Dude, that just makes me a little concerned about the ones that might be installing my alarm system when I get it. Gonna have to watch them like a hawk.

I have never done work that looks that crappy--even when I did'nt know what I was doing!

:hilarious @ those installs!

I love the "Why did my airbags blow ??? Cause there is a hole drilled through it !!!!" pic:

Yeah, that's pretty bad.

It's amazing when someone asks you to do something for them, go to pull the carpet or existing receiver and find something that looks like that. You can't imagine you'd ever run into that and then when you do, it's like ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif :hilarious //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif

I've seen worse. Much worse. My first car, an 83 chevy pickup, had a clothes-pin holding the ground wire to a metal part on the dash board that had the paint scratched off of it with the key. The speakers were held down with electrical tape and were run parralel off of one wire of the headunit. The rest of the wires were left bare and dangling behind the dash, twisted together when they had to be, no electrical tape or fasteners to speak of.

My grandfathers 87 VW Fox's headunit (and most everything else) was wired completely with copper house wire. It took me three days to straighten that **** out.

A friend of mine picked up a Buick from a junkyard and turned it into his daily driver. Someone made an accidental pass with a blowtorch or something and melted most of the plastic covers off of the headunit wires, so when you would hit a bump all sorts of sparks and cool stuff would happen. Luckily all it needed was a new wire harness.

A friend of mine had boasted for quite some time that he had 2 12's. So one day I went over to listen to them. I ended up staying there for almost 8 hours fixing a rat's nest of wires and disconned and blown amps. I got almost three pounds of wire that wasn't even hooked up to anything, and... i think you get the picture.

Yea, a clean install is hard to find in my area. ALthough I shouldn't be talking, with my alligator clip remote wire...
