my buddy just installed his netgear wgt624 router and his wireless adapter. it use to say it was only running at 48 mbps on the wireless adapter's computer. and then he called tech support and they helped him configure it so that it said it is running at 108 mbps. (he has a super G wireless router). he thought everything was all good then but ever since he did that hes been getting 20 kbps tops for his downloading speed (at the main computer that is conected to the router by wire.. i never checked the download speed of the computer that is linked to the router wirelessly but im guessing the same thing will happen since the main computer should be the bottleneck). he tested using pcpitstop.com .. im guessing there are some setting(s) he and the netgear techs are overlooking. he's tired of calling the techs because theyre indian and dont speak proper english and he can barely understand them and when he does it takes forevever to get something accomplished. im hoping someone might know what is causing his downloads to be so slow. when he took out his router and tested the download speed it shot up to 600 kbps. please help!!! hes saying hes going to return the netgear router, claiming it sucks, but he doesnt know computers, and im really thinking its a config setting that needs to be tweaked. im just not experienced in networking at all anyone know what it could be??
