Rockford Amp

I picked up a Punch 100 RF amp today from a local pawn shop,the amp works great and really works my 10's. The question I have is ,can anybody tell me approximately what year this amp was made? I tried The RF website but their search engine obviously ***** because i searched their archives for a Punch 100 of anystyle and it returned No Records Found. The Amp is a Punch 100dsm and it is in excellent shape. I was wondering if this amp was manufactured about the time RF was really making awesome Underrated amps such as their Punch 45.? I'm not familiar with the dsm suffix attached to the Punch label does anybody have any ideas?

Punch dsm is an older model. I don't know exactly how old, but i have had my Punch 60 dsm amp in my chevy pickup truck since 1997. It was in there when i bought the truck so i don't really know how long it was in there before i bought it but that means its at least 5 years old.

I can't remember exactly but I beleive they started coming out in the early 90's to mid 90's. There is nothing wrong with the fosgate amps today. They actually have better protection circutry in them today. When I bought my first rockford amp. Which by some strange coincidence was a punch 45. You could run it at like a 1/2ohm load. But I overloaded one time and it cost me $150 to have it fixed. If you noticed the warranty provided by fosgate is three times longer now than it was then. I use to have 2 Punch 60 dsm and 1 Punch 100 dsm in my car and I bought them in 97 so I'm pretty sure thats when they stopped making them. thanks for all the input!! I'm very impressed with the power this amp is producing. I am using it to run all my component speakers right now . I have 2 6X9's,2 5 1/4's and I wired them series and utilized both channels of the punch 100. They are very loud and pretty clear when i crank them in combination with the 2 10's I have being powered by a punch 500s.

Why not run them in parallel??.....I'm assuming your 5.25's are up front and your 6x9's are in the rear....I would run your 5.25 (left side) in parallel with your 6x9 (left side) and the same with the right side. This will create a 2 ohm load per side and you can run that amp in 2 ohm stereo in fact it is rated at 100 watts x 2 @ 2ohm stereo RMS and 200 watts x 2 @ 2 ohm stereo peak. And you know how under-rated those amps are. This I would do if I were you.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that yesterday evening it took a little time to re-route some of my wires but I definitely prefer the outcome over the previous wiring scheme.

Now I'm gonna have to get me some type of EQ-to balance out my treble with the bass but that is definitely the best SQ setup I have ever had thus far.

thats close to what i have in my set up my amps that are running my eight speakers in side the cab are set at 2 ohms. this gives my system the best sound.
