That is one of the disadvantages of a more socialist society. The government decides where your money is going to be spent. Also if your country isn't that much into running a deficit (they want a surplus or balanced budget instead) that current surplus adds up to about $114.28 per capita. Now if you're saying that you're paying insane taxes and aren't seeing anything for it, then the government is spending it in ways that don't benefit you or an audit maybe done to figure out where it is really going. This is one of the reasons that I'm not into socialism, I'd rather be allowed to spend most of money by myself. Why should I work if I'm not receiving the benefits from the taxes I pay? Maybe I should become unemployed and then maybe I'll receive benefits. This type of thinking is one of the dangers on a socialist society. The government must be very careful with what it does with the money and that it satisfies most of the people and doesn't discourage people to give up and stop working. I know how you feel about getting paid off by big business. This happens to every president the US will ever have for the rest of its short life. Politicians don't care about their country, they care about paying off the people that got them re-elected. It's all about money and power. Too bad we didn't have politicians that actually cared more about the country like back when the US was first created. And that's why I say vote third party. Vote libertarian, american independent, green party. The politicians from republican and democratic parties are one in the same, whoever gives them the most money is who they will represent rather than what is in the best interest of the country. On a side note. Some of you may disagree but this is just an idea that recently came to mind. The US is supposed to be a great free nation, but realistically doesn't look like it will last very long because most want what is best for themselves rather than making sacrifice for the country. Look at a communist country like china. It is amazing how long it has been standing. Now I'm not a communist but it is quite interesting.
