Hi, I'm having a problem trying install a proper amplifier to power two JL audio 10w1v2-8Ohm subwoofers. I will try my best to keep my explanation succinct and clear, but if there's any important detail that I missed or am wrong about, please let me know. After research, I realized it would be best to wire the two 8ohm subwoofers in parallel, therefore I can achieve the 4-ohm system. Therefore, the amplifier I chose was RF prime R250-1, which can provide around 150W RMS at 4ohm. Although this is a mono amplifier, there are 2 +/- terminals and they are wired parallel internally. Appropriate power, easy parallel installation, so I thought this amp would be perfect. But one thing that I realized installing he amp yesterday was that the subwoofers actually lose power when I connect the two subwoofers to the amp (to the 2 +/- terminals). The bass becomes much more firm and louder when I connect only one subwoofer to the amp. I was confused because I was expecting the subwoofers to perform better when I wire them parallel because doing that will lower the resistance to 4-ohm... and according to what RF claims, I did wire them parallel by just connecting the two subwoofers to the 2 +/- terminals of the amp right...? The details/specifications of the amp and subwoofers can be found in following links amp: rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?item_id=116200&locale=en_US subwoofer: dealercostcaraudio.com/10w1v2-8.aspx Sorry I couldn't put the full URL because it won't let me put URL in the post.. you will have to add the 'world wide web' initials in the front of the links. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you!
