That doesn't ****! I have been listening to various Class D amps over the past couple of weeks because I need around 1,000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms, and I have come to a general conclusion... EVERY Class D subwoofer amp I have heard SUCKS! Granted, I have only heard a Hifonics Bxi 1608D, Memphis MCD-1000, a Cadence of some kind, my Crossfire BMF 1000d, and the Class D output section of my Rockford Fosgate 25 to Life Power 1000 and ALL of them seem to **** at keeping up with anything that has fast shifting sub-bass notes. Just to be fair, the Hifonics Bxi 1608D was used in a test against a Lunar 2125 with both amps @ 2 ohms mono and the Hifonics couldn't keep up with the double bass pumps in a Disturbed track on a pair of Phoenix Gold 10s... All this testing took place in a buddy's 2002 Tahoe with a Pioneer DEH-800PRS head unit. The double bass pumps with the Hifonics on his 10s just sounded like a muddy mess whereas the Lunar was clean and precise. He used the little test to talk me OUT of buying another class D amp citing that they are garbage! Sadly, I never realized that the Class D output on my 25 to Life Power 1000 was lacking SQ until after the Hifonics test. Is this typical of ALL Class D Subwoofer Amps?
